Good Work, Inspector

It’s as though we stopped thinking
about what people might do and began
reacting appropriately to the actions
they actually carry out as an attempt
to build up their images in our eyes.

And I know what you’re thinking:
“You can’t possibly know that for a fact.”

Well, you caught me.
Good work, inspector.

However, there’s one thing you failed
to consider. I haven’t been proven wrong
on a hunch of mine [not a single time]
since 1983, and I don’t think you’ve got
the guts to dispute me on my moral high horse.

I ride in on my mighty steed and wage
war on negativity until I’m blue
in the face and meaner than a pirate
two days after shore leave’s over.

Wharved.com I am a poet. I write poems. Titles and subjects and subsequent readership are all part of one fragmented figment of our universe, and it's nice that we take it so seriously. Hopefully the craft remains and grows stronger for our children.
