A Brief Flicker

I leapt at the chance
to have my name engraved
on my very own garbage can.
Now when my trash
is picked up, it will have
an identity and a purpose.

Sure, it will just end up
in a landfill, but
an observant trash collector
will get the chance
to concoct a story
surrounding that refuse,
giving it a brief flicker
of immortality.

Wharved.com I am a poet. I write poems. Titles and subjects and subsequent readership are all part of one fragmented figment of our universe, and it's nice that we take it so seriously. Hopefully the craft remains and grows stronger for our children.
