Yapping

A little dog is yapping after its owner decided to leave it alone on this coffee shop’s patio, irritating all the people outside and even some of us indoors (that yapping is quite loud and obnoxious). This situation has led us patrons to wonder about the sanctity of the dog-owner relationship, and how many times such a bond is tested throughout the course of an average day.

Oh thank God, she’s back. Now we only have to worry about our own problems once again, at least until something else (a crying baby, a coffee spill, a delivery guy struggling to simultaneously open the door and hold onto his parcels) distracts us.

      1. You’re welcome. I don’t come across these kinds of posts often. I feel like some bloggers tend to try a bit too hard to be abstract. Your posts seem concrete but there’s unadorned symbolism embedded in what you’re saying. And that’s what I consider to be an archetypal short story.

      2. Funny you should mention that. I used to be a lot more abstract, but then settled into making more concrete posts, be they mundane, magical realism or otherwise. There’s plenty of material out there without having to obscure it. :D

      4. I’m happy you appreciate what I’ve done. I’m slowly but surely building up a volume of work, looking to legitimize my style and ultimately springboard me into publishing (in some shape or form).

      5. I’m glad I made you happy. I’m doing something similar. I tried self-publishing with this company called Xlibris but they ripped me off big time. A few years later, I decided to just publish eBooks on Kindle Direct Publishing until I find a new and better publisher in the future. Have you tried publishing on KDP? It’s free and easy.

      6. I’ve definitely thought about it, but I always wonder if doing so will limit my options for those pieces in the future. I suppose I shouldn’t put the cart before the horse.
